Country Focus: Malaysia
Malaysia is an amazingly beautiful country. Located in South East Asia, Malaysia includes 2 land mass; the more well known West Malaysia (where the capital Kuala Lumpur is located) and the less well known but equally awesome East Malaysia (consisting primarily of the states of Sabah and Sarawak in the island of Borneo).
Located in South-East Asia and relatively near the equator, Malaysia has a tropical climate which translates into a hot and humid climate throughout the year. The weather in the country is defined by the South-West Monsoon which usually occurs between the months of May to September and the North-East Monsoon which usually brings with it heavy rainfalls and occurs between the months of November to March. The period of the South-West Monsoon is typically the drier months and is thus the best time to visit.
Malaysia is well-served by international air links to North America, Europe, China, Japan and Australia. The country's main international air hub is the Kuala Lumpur International Airport a.k.a. KLIA (IATA: KUL, ICAO: WMKK) which is located in the state of Selangor. KLIA is about 45km (28 miles) from the Federal Capital of Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia is also connected to its closest neighbour Singapore via 2 land links in its southern-most state of Johor and by ferry to several locations in Indonesia across the Straits of Malacca.

With it's vast areas of natural wilderness, modern cities, historical sites, diverse cultures and an amazing array of delicious multi-cultural food, Malaysia is one country where travel opportunities are plentiful.
